Earth Ruminations is an archive of images using traditional and alternative photographic processes. Using a “direct contact” method to collect the “data”; the images are scanned half way through the photographic process, highlighting the ephemeral nature of the data collection and its contents creating a visual metaphors of our macrocosm and microcosm. The materials used to create these images are mainly flora - foliage and soil, yet these images are reminiscent of turn of the century sky images. Although these images are abstract in nature, they reference past and possible future narratives. This project explores intersections of landscape/place and personal narratives where the landscape/place is presented as a witness to the histories that affect individuals on a personal and a communal level while contemplating the poetry in both nature and the photographic image.
